‘The Practice of the Presence of God.’

By Brother Lawrence.

That we ought, once for all, heartily to put our whole trust in God, and make a total surrender of ourselves to Him, secure that He would not deceive us.

That we ought to give ourselves to God with regard to things both temporal and spiritual, and seek our satisfaction only in fulfilling His will, whether He lead us by suffering or by consolation, for all would be equal to a soul truly resigned.

Our sanctification does not depend upon changing our works but in doing that for God’s sake which we commonly do for our own. The time of business does not with me differ from the time of prayer. Prayer is nothing else but a sense of the presence of God.

The Editor’s Letter.

My dear Friends,

In this edition we are looking at some of the wonderful teaching in the Bible concerning the vital nature of Spirit inspired prayer. God has given us the great gift of prayer, and the indwelling of the Spirit to enable us, but are we using these gifts as God intends that we should? As one article asks, ‘Do you pray?’

The Trustees asked me to set up a web site for the Trust and during the past two months I have been working on this and we have recently ‘gone on line’. In a few weeks time you will be able to find us at http://www.overcomertrust.org.uk . It will take some months for all the booklets we have been printing to appear on the web site and for me to include some of the more recent back numbers of the magazine. Please pray that this new outreach ministry will be accessed by many in lands where the printed word is not so easily obtained. The printed editions of ‘The Overcomer’ will still be sent out to all those who wish to receive them. May both be used by the Lord to make His Name known.

The Lord keep and bless you.

Yours in His service,

Michael Metcalfe.
